Guidance Department

Your child will be assigned a Guidance Counselor when they enter HHMS.

School counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all learners in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development, and career development, ensuring today's students become productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

MTSS is a formalized framework which promotes school-wide practices and supports for all learners. It is a framework that helps our school community provide a continuum of support based on individual student needs. If your child is referred to the MTSS team, you will be invited to participate in the meeting.

Social Work

School Social Workers are trained mental health professionals who provide services related to a learner’s social emotional and life adjustment to school and/or society. School Social Workers are a link between home, school, and community. They provide both direct and indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students’ academic and social success.

Reading Intervention

Reading specialists support, supplement and extend classroom teaching, and work collaboratively to implement a quality reading program that is research-based and meets the needs of learners. Based on data, students may receive either Targeted or Intensive Reading.

School Psychology

School Psychologists are uniquely qualified members of the school community that apply their expertise in mental health learning, and behavior to help learners succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School Psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.

Special Education

Special Educators have explicit training in the delivery of specialized support and instruction to meet the individual needs of all learners who qualify for an Individualized Education Program (IEP). They are advocates for all learners who serve as a pivotal link between students, teachers, and families. Our Special Education team is comprised of 3 Special Educators and 2 Paraprofessionals. A Therapeutic Support room (Room 105) is available to students needing a calm, safe space.
